November News

Dear Families,

I love November! The fall weather is just a bit more crisp, the days are shorter, and there are some welcome breaks in our schedule as we finish the first quarter of the school year. I’d like to make you particularly aware of these events:
November 9-10 ½ days for students and volunteer training
Parent teacher conferences p.m.
November 10 Wear Red White and Blue in recognition of Veteran’s Day
November 11 No School – Veteran’s Day
November 12 No School for Students – Staff Development Day
November 15 Presentation at the High School – The Gizmo Guys
November 18 Academic Awards and Student of the Month Assembly,9:30 a.m. – Program on Cooperation by Grade 3
November 24-26 Thanksgiving Vacation

Students will be dismissed at 11:35 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday in order for teachers to be able to meet with you and discuss your child’s report card. Parents in Grades 3-5 will be able to take a first look at our new electronic report card and the teachers will explain it fully. We do ask that parents come to school to conference during this first quarter and teachers should have contacted you to help you select times. We can be flexible and meet with you at different hours if you let us know.

As you prepare for your conference with your child’s teacher, these questions may help you make the most of your time:
What do you want to know about your child’s performance and academic achievement?
What does your child find most rewarding about school?
What is your child’s biggest concern or frustration with school?
Do you have any concerns about the school or this class that we should know about? What are they and what can be done to alleviate them?
What can your child do to improve in this class? What can you do? What can the teacher/school do?

There will also be an opportunity each of these two days for volunteer training if you have not been able to attend one of our previous sessions. Training will take place Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. and Wednesday at 2:00 in the library media center. Please RSVP if you plan to attend these sessions.

We hope you have an enjoyable month. May you enjoy the blessings of family and friends as we give thanks for the many things we celebrate in our school, community and nation.
